The Future of AI-powered Business Applications
The interesting shift is not chat. It is software that can act on unstructured input as a normal part of its logic.

The first wave of AI features was a chat box added to the side of an existing product. It was useful occasionally and ignored mostly, because it sat outside the workflow rather than inside it.
The more durable pattern is quieter. A field that fills itself from an uploaded document. A queue that arrives pre-sorted. A draft that is already written when you open the record. The model is infrastructure, not interface.
Designing for this changes the architecture. You need confidence values in the data model, a review state on records, and an audit trail of what was generated versus entered. These are product decisions as much as technical ones.
For most businesses the opportunity is not a new AI product. It is the existing process, with the reading and sorting removed.
